A lot has been reported in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues as a result of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge tax breaks to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. But does the internet adaptation of this classic game offer a salvation, or might it in no way compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo has been an classic game normally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game recently had seen a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger men and women deciding to hit the bingo halls rather than the discos on a weekend. This is all about to be reversed with the legislating of the smoking ban throughout Britain.

No longer will enthusiasts be allowed to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 every public place will not be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favored places where folks like to smoke.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo parlors. Players have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Certainly they haven’t deserted this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. People are now realizing that they can enjoy bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a cocktail and cig and in the end, enjoy massive prizes. This is a recent development and has timed itself just about perfectly with the anti cigarette law.

Of course gambling on on the net is unlikely to replace the communal aspect of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a group of players the law has left many bingo players with little alternative.
